Ways to save
Ways to reduce costs when making calls abroad
If you're making calls abroad, here are some ways to reduce your costs.
Turn off or set up your voicemail
You pay to receive and retrieve your voicemails so the easiest way to save is switch it off. You can do this by clearing your call diverts on your phone.
Send picture messages instead of texts
You can put more text in a picture message and, of course, include a picture of the beach, mountain, city you're visiting.
Call rather than text
Depending where you are, it can be cheaper to talk for one minute than send two texts, so maybe let your tongue rather than your thumb do the talking.
Don't call premium or non-geographic numbers
Premium numbers in the UK are normally numbers starting with a special code such as 0900. Non-geographic numbers don't have an area code and in the UK they start with numbers from 04 to 09. We have no control over the costs of these numbers and they can be very expensive, so beware.
